Title:
2-Story Apartment Building for Mr. George Harris
Object ID:
2014.1.1138.1-6
Background Information:
This eight-unit apartment for Mr. George Harris was proposed for construction at 123 N. 9th St. in downtown Las Vegas. Unlike other residential apartment buildings throughout downtown, this two-story concrete block building incorporates two adjacent office spaces on the lower floor facing the street and three consecutive one-bedroom apartments in the rear of the building. The second story consists of a two-bedroom apartment above the larger office space, consecutively followed by a studio apartment, and three one-bedroom apartments in the rear of the building. A sundeck connected to the open balcony is placed above the smaller retail space adjacent to the two-bedroom apartment. The simple rectangular massing clad in stucco combines both residential and commercial spaces in a simple yet modern aesthetic reflective of the stucco box apartment popular in southern California.
